AFS had a few people compete at the Grapplers Quest U.S. Nationals today. I am proud of everyone who competed they represented the school and myself well on
and off the mats. Kyle J, Jordyn , Jason, Jody and Peter competed.
Kyle lost in the Advanced division, he was doing great winning 4-2 with less than a minute left and got caught in a triangle. This division was stacked with
talent and at that level when you make a mistake you are going to pay.
Jordyn took first in the teen 100lb and under division putting on a submission clinic and beating 2 teen boys in the process including a
nailing really slick armbar in overtime of the final match.. Nobody even came close to getting a good position on her .. She is a bad, bad girl..
Jody did 5 divisions.. 3 womens and 2 mens. weighing in at a little over 100 lbs she was giving up a lot of weight in ever match
She took : 4th place in the mens masters (40 years and over) under 160 lbs division--- 4th place in the mens under 130 lb
division -- 3rd place in the Womens under 115 lbs and under
She also had matches in both the Womens 130 and under and Womens open weight divisions.... Jody had a ton of matches today and earned a bunch of fans
especially the men she grappled against. She was running from mat to mat doing 2 divisions at the same time with no rest between matches at one point.. Even in
the matches she lost nobody came close to getting anything on her she did great and has a ton of heart..
Peter took first in the executive (over 30) middleweight division winning 3 matches including a sick triangle to armbar switch for the sub. I
think he even surprised himself with his performance..
Jason took second in the executive (over 30) middleweight division looking dominant before losing a close match in the finals by a point he
looked really good for a tired old plumber
Everyone looked great out there and fought their hearts out
